Although a youthful winery, Fermoy Estate's wines have garnered wide acclaim. Their Cabernet Sauvignon scooped a Gold Sheraton wine Award within its first year of production and their Merlot and Semillon have also been hailed at wine shows and in the marketplace.

Situated in the Margaret River district of Western Australia and surrounded by forest, farmland and sea, this region enjoys the attributes of a mild Mediterranean climate.  Rich soil and fresh winds from the vast unpolluted Indian and Southern oceans, create a near perfect milieu for their vines and the resulting premium wines.

The vineyard, established in 1985, covers a total of 14 hectres with its first vintage occurring in 1988. An ancestor of one of the vineyard's original owners founded the town of Fermoy in County Cork, Ireland, from which the winery's name was derived.

While Fermoy Estate incorporates leading edge technology, it retains many Old World winemaking practices and traditions. The vines are hand-pruned and the grapes hand-picked in the cool of the early morning and then immediately processed to retain their freshness.  There are no pesticides used in the vineyard as the birds and insects are natural assets.

The winery was built in 1987 to the specifications of Michael Kelly, Fermoy’s winemaker and has since been expanded to accommodate Fermoy Estate's dynamic growth from 120 cases at first vintage to now more than 20,000 cases annually.

Celebrated Sydney restaurateur Neil Perry, cites Fermoy's Michael Kelly as one of the best Australian winemakers. Michael believes wines are only as good as their ingredients and consequently much effort is lavished on Fermoy's vineyards in the quest for prime quality grapes.

By such careful fruit selection, Fermoy Estate is able to craft distinctive table wines full of unique flavours and characters.
